Ben's Bad day

Our Son Benjamin is in afternoon Kindergarten, today however his class was going to a musical put on by Altamont High School. we had told him he was going in early so he could go to a play. at noon as I was waiting for him to get off the bus my two older children pass by telling me how great a time they had. expecting Ben to feel the same I was somewhat surprised to see that he wasn't the exuberant child that his siblings had been. "how was the Play?" I asked.
"Terrible!" he replied pausing for a moment,"I had to sit still and listen the whole time, and not once did they let me play!"
In retrospect, I guess we should have defined "play" a little better.

here I go again

For those how have not yet heard I am getting deployed again. on our blog I am not allowed to say where or when, but if you hear the rumors they are true. as of yesterday the US and Iraqi governments came to a Security pact extending our time in Iraq for 3 more years (Ironically president elect Obama has stated that he will support the pact as ratified by the Iraqi congress so it looks as though their are few roadblocks to keep us from going.)
So, that being said I look forward to and I am greatful for the time I have to spend with my family during the holiday season.

Duchense county Fair

Zack took a pig to the fair this year.

We had lots of fun up at their fair.

On day one we had to take the pigs to the fair by 3:00p.m, I got off around 2:00 so I could help load the pigs. When Harding got to our place I was ready to load the pigs and head for the fair. It only took 30 minutes for Trever pig to load today, Iam glad no one had their camera they would be laughing over the pictures of us fall in the pig mud. So I had to go back over to house and change my clothes. So we finally got on our way, When we got up their they weighted the pigs then the boys had to fix up their pens for the pigs. They put us on the outside so I send Bryan home to get a tarp before he got home they let us move the pigs inside so I called Bryan and told him never mind, then sheila decide to have Bryan bring up mom trailer so we would have something to stay in while we were up here all week long.

The Second day we got up early we had to clean the pigs before they showed them to the judges, It was funny watching the kids running around trying to get a pen to wash their pigs because they showed up late. Zack did a pretty good job for never showing a pig before he had a little bit of a hard time because their was a pig in their that just wanted to run so it would get Zack pig upset also, they all receive a showing ribbon with $3.00 for even trying.

On day three it was market class and that when they judge your pig on the quality of the pig, today Zack did a lot better then yesterday by moving his pig around in the corral. Zack received a first place ribbon with $ 8.00 today we was very excited today.

On day four we got up early to wash the pigs like on the other days put the pigs in the pen soaped then down then the water went off for about 30minutes so our pigs were soapy and in the cleaning pen and they sure weren't liking this at all. Zack looked awesome today we was also very happy but also sad at the same time because it was the day to sell their pigs today. Zack did really good today he goes into the pen by them self today and their bidder that will bid on his pig he was happy when he received $675 for his pig and it only cost $300 dollars to raise it so he made profit.

Akela Council 24

I not very good as this blogging thing but I am learning.

In August I went to Akala Council 24 and had a wonderful time.(This is a Scouting thing for the people that don't know)

On the first day we went all day long we didn't have very long to set anything up. We went to some training then their where things that we had to make as a den. I shared a tent with one of my den members. She was really awesome. We went long hours and always in a hurry all 4 day that we were their I don't think that we got in bed before midnight any of the nights. then we where going again my 6:30 in the morning. The trading post opened at 7:00 in the morning trying to get things done before we had to be in line for opening ceremonies about 7:45 in the morning. We did a lot of training in the lodge but we also did a lot of fun things outside that brought it more hands on. I am so glad that I went as a New Den Leader know instead of later because they helped us understand the leader book and also things that we should be doing at our own den and pack meetings. Our Den was called "Apache". we did a lot of things every day so I was full of energy when I got back and the kids thought that their mommy was crazy because when I was talking to Bryan I just keep on talking telling him about my entire week in about 10 minutes. The kids thought my finger nails were crazy because we paint them different colors for all the different tribes. Gloria thought it was funny I also painted her I cant even tell you the last time I painted her nails, so she was very excited.

Getting started

I started this post in March and then I had Melanie help me learn how to navigate the blog a bit. So now that we are in August I am getting around to publishing this post. Hope you all had a better day than I did.

So I am finally hoping on the band wagon and making an attempt at blogging. I have never been one to keep a journal so maybe this can, in some way make up for that shortcoming. there have been many great days and adventures that are now lost even to my own memory I have no idea how long they will remain in this media but at least for a short time a memory has been shared.

Today has been typical of our own family circus, it at least started out better than in recent days. No one awoke sick today and everyone who is in school was able to go and thank goodness we didn't have to wash all of the linens yet again. Things were in fact going very smooth up until Julie found the note reminding us that the headstart bus would not be running this afternoon. This meant that Ben and our two nieces were sitting at the school an hour after class let out waiting for me to pick them up. Julie had to leave for work just as I was returning home with the children. At 3:30 I was supposed to pick up Zack and Gloria at the bus stop so they wouldn't have to wade threw the mud. At 4:30 I finally remember I am supposed to pick them up. I go out to start my Jimmy, and it decides not to play along, fortunately I still have my truck.

I rush over pick up the kids drive them back home. I should mention that I started cooking dinner just before so I had to rush in to make sure I didn't burn down the house. Then back outside I pop the hood of both vehicles and jump start the Jimmy. Thinking that it might not hurt to just leave the two connected and running to recharge the battery I go back in and finish cooking dinner. At 5:10 the babysitter arrives. I walk her threw the usual instructions and I leave for work.

I back around and started pulling out of the yard and the engine dies, I turn the key and with absolutely no response. I leave the Jimmy parked in the middle of the street walk over to my truck and use it to push the jimmy back into the yard. I quickly transfer all my bags from one vehicle to the other ( I have a lot of bags I have a 24 hour ambulance shift followed by a 2 1/2 hour math class tomorrow night so to be ready for anything I have a lot of junk) with everything transferred, I'm off to work, well sort of. My poor old truck as trusty as it is has a short somewhere in the tail lights so if I am traveling in the day its no problem but at night no one coming up behind me can see me and I am in no mood for a ticket.

10 minuets latter I arrive at my mom and dads to barrow and yet again transfer all of my junk to a 3rd vehicle. Now I am finally on my way to work.

Just as I am coming into view of the ambulance station the ambulance pulls out and takes off on a run the poor lady I am to relive was not a happy person when I caught up with them at the hospital an hour later.

I can't wait to find out how Julies day went.
